Bone Densitometry (DEXA)
This test uses X-rays to measure bone mineral density in the hips, lower back, and wrists, primarily to detect osteoporosis.

Important
- You must arrive 30 minutes before your appointment and bring any relevant previous studies.
- For the test, you should not bring jewelry, a cellphone, a watch, makeup, or any metal items on your body, including wired underwear.
- If a barium/oral contrast study was performed, you must wait seven days for the DEXA; if the contrast was Gastroview, the waiting time is 24 hours.
